Press Release - ‘SAM for Schools’ Campaign to Help Local Children

Date
01 July 2009
SCHOOLS across South West London could benefit to the tune of tens of thousands of pounds, with the launch of a community campaign.

Nick Samuel, Managing Director of Samuel Estates, the award-winning, local and independent residential lettings and sales specialist, said the ‘SAM for Schools’ campaign would give something back to communities in the area.

Colliers Wood-based Samuel Estates, which is growing through the recession and has just opened a second office in Balham, plays an active part in the life of its local communities, sponsoring and supporting many events and activities, and good causes.

Mr Samuel today (Fri) invited primary and secondary schools across South West London, particularly in the local Colliers Wood, Wimbledon, Balham, Tooting and Clapham areas, who would like to take part in the ‘SAM for Schools’ campaign to come forward.

Former Children’s BBC presenter Ortis Deeley, who now co-hosts Channel Five’s The Gadget Show, will officially launch the campaign. Schools are needed to get on board now in preparation for the launch in the autumn.

How ‘SAM for Schools’ works:
  • Schools across South West London are invited to sign up for the ‘SAM for Schools’ campaign
  • Parents, teachers, their families, friends and associates who are wanting to sell or let their property can raise funds for their local school by using Samuel Estates, who will donate 10% of their fees to each school generating a successful sale or let
The 10% donation would equate to a minimum of around £250 for the sale of one house and a minimum of around £120 for the letting of one property.

Each school taking part will be asked to choose their own worthwhile cause that needs cash — such as new computer or sports equipment, creation of a school garden or vegetable patch, more books for the school library, a school trip or treat, and so on.

Mr Samuel said: “As a business we believe in continual development and learning, so I am thrilled that we can help local schools do something extra for their pupils.”

St John Fisher Primary School in West Wimbledon has already signed up for ‘SAM for Schools’ via their Parent Teacher Association. They will be raising funds for school building improvements, including a new school boiler.

Nigel Chandler, of the school’s Parent Teacher Association, said: “This is an excellent way for a local business to support schools in their area, where both organisations are benefiting by supporting each other.”

Established in 1995, Samuel Estates has offices at 30 Watermill Way, Colliers Wood and 38 Balham Hill, Balham.

Samuel Estates was a finalist in the recent South London Business Awards 2009 for Best Small Business.

Schools wishing to take part in ‘SAM for Schools’ should contact Jill Kent on 020 8274 0807 or 0776 0470 309.
