Samuel Estates Managing Director is elected as Vice Chairman of the Balham Partnership.
The Balham Partnership, which was established in 1996, plays a crucial role in ensuring the viability of Balham Town Centre for those who live, work, shop, and relax in Balham.
The Partnership is private sector led with representatives from Balham businesses, the public sector and the community. <http://www.balham.com/index.php?module=partnership&action=view&id=76> The majority of members are volunteers and give up their personal time to ‘Build a better Balham’. Partnership members attend bi-monthly Board meetings. They are active between Board meetings with the work of the various sub group meetings. The Balham Partnership has identified 4 priorities for 2009-12:

Some of the Balham Partnership’s recent achievements include:
- Production of ‘Discover Balham’ inward investment packs.
- Improvements to the Bedford Hill pedestrian tunnels.
- Rejuvenation of Hildreth Street and Hildreth Mews (in partnership with Wandsworth Council and Languards).
- Launching the ‘Balham Retail Radio’ scheme.
- Annual floral summer hanging baskets.
- Annual festive evenings to mark the switching on of the Balham Christmas Lights.
- Four annual Shopping and Entertainment Guides produced and distributed to Balham residents and businesses.
- ‘Balham- Keep it Local’ poster campaign in Balham Tube Station and local shops.
- Several speciality markets to Hildreth Street.
- ‘Balham Street Festival’ in partnership with a local music promoter.
